Health & Wellness... a Holistic Perspective

Choose healthy over skinny!

I’ve learned a lot from people who look like me, people who were not skinny all of their lives. There is something about their overcoming process that helps me… their struggle is real & their fight is justifiable! And so, what I’ve learned... I am now able to share with you in my own way. It’s like the African proverb goes… Each One Teach One!

I’m not quite where I want to be and I’m not where I used to be,
but I sure know where I’m going!

The Planning is in the work

"I find that I best thrive in what's known as the "Crowding Out" method because it is a way for you to be able to gain control, without feeling like your missing out!"

There are many ways to get from one place to another. Everyone’s level of progression is unique to their individual needs, be it body, mind, or soul. Still… we all must listen to our bodies when it comes to our healing & restoration process. What works for you may not work for me, but nutrition is everything... sugar & starch & fake foods have wreaked havoc on our bodies long enough. We are living with all forms of sickness & disease as if its normal… obesity, diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol, and even arthritis are all health violations that no medication will ever cure.

Now, I don’t believe that one should feel overwhelmed by focusing on extremes or the idea of being deprived because that very notion is an unnecessary weight, one more that we cannot afford to carry. We simply need to become accountable for the damage that has been done & do what it takes to redeem ourselves. We can either invest in our health now or pay for it later.

If any of what I’ve said has resonated with you in any way, feel free enough to get in touch so that we can put our heads together & learn what it takes for you to be able to thrive in good health!

20 years of weight loss woes and I’m just figuring it out!

Some reasons why people hold on to weight:

Chronic inflammation, pain, achy joints, low energy, or fatigue...

Not considering oils, sugars, creams, and sauces…
Autoimmune conditions, Metabolic adaptation, or Survival mechanisms…
Culture/how you identify with food… lack of nutrition… toxin overload
Eating fast… Under-eating… Poor cooking methods… unmanaged electrolytes
Inadequate physical activity…*Medications… inconsistency…
Not getting enough quality protein… Consuming liquid calories…
The wrong carbs… Not eating ‘real foods’… Cheat days…
When sleep, stress and hormonal health are not in a healthy place; therefore, your body won’t respond…

Hormonal issues that hinder or prevent results:

Estrogen dominance, Low progesterone, PCOS, Hypothyroidism & Adrenal dysfunction.

“Herbs are for the HEALING of the nations…
Clean meats and seed-bearing plants & trees that have seed-bearing FRUIT are good for food…
~enjoy a little honey & a little wine from time to time.”

You are responsible for you so take care of yourself!

Although there is no one size fits all when it comes to eating healthy,
we all need to tailor our needs to meet our goals.

“Your mind or your thoughts affect the way your cells process what they choose to let in & out, so balance it key… but balance is not something you find, it’s something you create.”

Health Nuggets:

Fruit sugar vs refined/processed sugar…

Refined sugar lacks any nutritional value, unlike fruit sugar. If we all grew up only on fruit sugar, many of our lives would be significantly different health-wise, and I doubt there would be an epidemic of diabetes. Eating whole, plant-based foods rich in healthy nutrients is the key to living a healthy life. Still, how many of us are going to reach for an apple instead of a cookie or cake? People with type 2 diabetes are often discouraged from eating fruit yet will still indulge in junk food. New studies find that people who consume two servings of fruit per day, have 36% lower odds of even developing type 2 diabetes then those who consume less than half a serving. “Choose your battles wisely!”

But what about the significance of mobility?

Mobility signals how efficiently you can move and keep injuries at bay. It affects the range of motion around your joints, so the more movement your body has the ability to perform, the less injuries you are likely to have. If you lack mobility, you could have the strength of a horse & still find it hard to power through movements. Mobility training can significantly improve your quality of life on a day-to-day basis.
